NPDP Takes Over Atlanta | Imaging 2016 | Master of Photography

For those of you that follow Nate, Teresa, Kelly or NP Design & Photography on any social media outlet, you probably noticed us out and about last month. We traveled to Atlanta for the Professional Photographers of America's Imaging Convention and Expo 2016.

Not only did we attend classes taught by industry leaders and network with other professional photographers, Nate earned his Master of Photography degree at the Degree and Awards ceremony. The Master of Photography is "awarded for superior photographic skills—demonstrated through the PPA International Photographic Competition, advanced education and service to the industry."

The images above illustrate just a few of the incredible classes we attended, people we mingled with and accomplishments we achieved. We are super excited for 2016. It's going to be a great year!

Imaging USA 2014: NPDP Invades Phoenix

After the holiday rush, NPDP takes some time in January to plan out our year. We make individual and team goals and take significant time to educate ourselves on the latest and greatest in the photography industry. As a Certified Professionally Photography studio, we pride ourselves on constantly learning, evolving, and being the absolute best at what we do in our ever-changing and highly competitive industry.

Therefore, every spring, we attend conferences and tradeshows across the nation to learn from the best and discover the latest technology. This year, we traveled to bright and sunny Phoenix, Arizona for five days of sun and fun... Not really. We spent most of our time holed away in conference rooms learning from the industry's best and walking the tradeshow floor.

Although none of us got a tan or spent much time meandering as eager tourists through the city, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Nate received his Bronze Medal for his amazing image portfolio at the PPA Grand Imaging Awards. There was a mac and cheese bar at conference closing event! The weather was beautiful. We learned about everything from SEO to pet photography to creating WOW Senior imagery. We even found an ice rink!

But we are back now and ready to put all of our thoughts and goals to work. Below are just a few of the instagram shots we caught throughout the week. Enjoy!

2013 International PPA Photographic Competition

We are so proud of Nate this week, as he received his results from the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) International Photographic Competition. Nate received a bronze medal after all four of his competition images were awarded merits! Go Nate! Read on for the press release and more info about the results, the competition, and the images!

New Richmond Photographer Nate Peterson, owner of NP Design & Photography Studio, was named a Bronze Medalist during Professional Photographers of America’s 2013 International Photographic Competition.  He will be honored at PPA’s annual convention, Imaging USA, this coming January in Phoenix, AZ.

Peterson was named a Bronze Medalist by earning a merit – a mark of quality and honor – for each of the four images included in his entry case to the International Photographic Competition.  This is the most prestigious competition of its kind, where images are judged based on standard of artistic excellence, not against each other.  In 2013, he was one of only 55 Bronze Medalist from across the nation.

“These photographers have reached a prestigious achievement,” states Randy McNeilly, PPA’s Photographic Exhibition Committee Chairman.  “It takes dedication to achieve the consistent quality and creativity necessary to earn the title of Bronze Medalist in one of the world’s most celebrated photography competitions.  While Nate will be receiving this award at PPA’s International Convention in January 2014 in Phoenix, the real winners will be his clients who have commissioned his work!”

The merit images include three local high school seniors (now graduated) and one local aspiring model.  “An Accomplished Reader” depicts a 2013 New Richmond graduate in a library representing her core interest in reading and academic despite her athletic reputation.

“The Puck Stops Here” is an intense vision into the eyes of a Somerset hockey goalie.  This image scored a 95 – Exceptional, which is the top category and received Judge’s Choice as well.

"Friday Night At Seven" captures an Ellsworth football player with a pre-game mentality.

“Red Light District” is a glamour model image for her commercial portfolio.

“I’m proud that each of the images are actual client work, "said Peterson, noting that it is common for photographers to stage images strictly for competition.  “One of my mentors earned his Masters Degree using only client work, and it’s my goal to hold to that same rare standard.”

Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is the largest international non-profit association created by professional photographers, for professional photographers.  PPA has roots back to 1869 and continues to look for new ways to assist is members through education and resources for their continued success in the industry.
