Senior Fashion Trends from Express

Want to know what to wear for your senior session?  We interviewed Jen Tessier, Brand Manager at Express in Woodbury to hear all about the new senior fashion trends for the Class of 2018!

For the girls:  Off the shoulder tops and Cold shoulder tops are the hottest trend for the upcoming seasons! Weather you are pairing them with high rise jeans or a basic ankle dress pant, these tops are hot. Ankle pants are worn everywhere, from running errands to the office. Ankle jean leggings with a cotton top for a more casual look, and Ankle Columnist pants with a blousy top for a more polished look. Pair them with pumps, flats, or a cute bootie to finish the outfit. Layering is a great way to add just a little extra to any outfit! Lace bralettes are the accessory becoming a trend to wear under any great top. A basic top can always be topped off with a jacket to give any outfit a completely different look.

For the guys:  Express has always been known for the top selling 1MX shirt. Now Express introduces a new great shirt for men, the Performance Stretch Easy Care shirt can be dressed up or worn casually. It has that sleek look keeping it professional and great patterns to take that look a little more casual. Whether you are looking for a casual look of denim or chinos, or a great suit, the fashion forward skinny pant is everywhere. Express has a great selection of cotton suits as well as the classic wool blend suit. The suits come in the 3 different fits from skinny to modern, and a great range of colors.

Education Rocks!

Wedding and Portrait Photography International Conference and Expo

Having just got back from eight days in Vegas at WPPI, the NPDP staff is pumped for our 'Class of 2018' Season!  Nate, Teresa & Allie took classes on lighting, posing, new senior portrait ideas, modeling, headshots, glamour photography,  unleashing your creativity and walked the trade show floor to look at new products!  "Keeping up with the latest trends is a MUST for our business!" states Teresa Peterson, Event Coordinator.  "High School seniors want what's hot NOW not yesterdays news.  It's important that we educate ourselves on how to make them look and feel fabulous as well as investing in lighting, cameras and equipment so that we can create edgy looks, fashion looks and boho looks to satisfy every seniors' personality!"

They even spent a day in the desert with other photographers on a photo adventure!  "Working with other photographers on creative projects like this stretch my creativity and imagination."  said Nate Peterson, Master Photographer, Certified Professional Photographer.  "It allows me to play and create something different!"

Alli's Senior Model Experience | Twin Cities Senior Photographer

2016 Senior Model, Alli's session was jam-packed with laughs, goofy moments, and some pretty spectacular dance skills. Alli's quirky personality shines in her images. You can't help but smile when you look through her album. Below are a few album spreads, some of Alli's favorite images and a few words from Alli and her mom, Leann!

"The Photo Booth part was very entertaining for everyone in the room."

A couple of Alli's album spreads

"We love our album. It is on the end table in the living room so anyone can look at it by then we can also bring with with us to show out of town relatives."

"It was really nice how Nate was able to incorporate Alli's quirky side, but also create art with some of the serious photos."

Joe's Senior Model Experience | Twin Cities Photographer of the Year

A couple of years ago, one of our favorite clients/assistants/BFFs, Keagan, went to prom with a guy named Joe. The next year, Joe applied to be a Senior Model at NPDP. He made it past the rigorous application process and we welcomed him into the fold. Little did we know, what a great young man we were welcoming into our NPDP family.

Joe and Nate clicked from the beginning and if you can't tell from the images below, Joe is one of the most well-rounded, genuinely kind individuals we have ever photographed. Always courteous, well-spoken and fun to be around, Joe and his mom, Therese, are the reason we love what we do so much. Joe and Therese's comments about their NPDP experience are below. Enjoy!

Joe: "Our personalities clicked. I enjoyed that. Nate is open-minded to ideas."

Therese: "Quality from start to finish. What a beautiful way to take all your favorite photos and compile them into a wonderful book."

Therese: At the start, I thought we were going to meet with a photographer for Senior portraits. Very soon after arriving and speaking with Nate, I realized he is a mentor; Nate and the entire staff are vested in these kids and their confidence and self-esteem. They really want these kids to succeed; to build great character."

James's St. Paul & Studio Session | Twin Cities Senior Photographer

If you haven't met New Richmond Senior Model, James, then you are missing out. He is one of the most well-spoken, well-liked and all-round inspiring Seniors we have photographed. As you can probably tell from his Senior images below, he's got big plans for his future and we are excited to see him achieve every last one of them. Below are a few words from James about his Senior Model experience.

"My favorite part of my session was definitely going downtown St. Paul to the capitol building!"

"I enjoy the way I'm portrayed in my photos. They cover everything from my serious/political personality to my fun loving/smiling side of me."

"All in all my experience was most certainly an 11 out of 10! There is NOBODY else out there who is as talented and creative as Nate is, and it was truly an experience to remember!"

Harley and Seth's Double-Trouble Sessions | NP Design and Photography Studio

This summer we had the pleasure of working with the Leavens family not once, but twice! Harley and Seth are both so talented and a blast to photograph. They also had the opportunity to model for NPDP at a photography convention in Madison, while Nate taught a class to other photographers from around the midwest this fall. Such fun! And both of their albums turned out incredible. Surf through some of their favorite images and album spreads below, as they talk about their experience with NPDP.
